About this Website

Here are the results of our very first envelope test. I call this image 'Kissing Couple.' It is a picture of the photographer's grandparents. While no one 'got' the image, I found it interesting that we got a lot of nature-type gueses — water, birds, trees, mountains. I have no idea what this means, but maybe we'll see some more interesting patterns in future tests. I'd also be interested to know if the people who posted guesses see correlations in their own answers.

Kissing Couple

Addendum, 1/1/99 Got the following note from Steve Nestor with some wonderful feedback on his take on these results. I thought these might be of interest to others so, with his permission, I am adding them to this archive.
Dear Kerstin -

I found the envelope test interesting. Sure wish we could see out of the kissing couples window to see if they lived near a mountain, with a body of water nearby.

It's intriguing that 3 guesses, one being mine, included the collar red in them. When I look at the picture, my eye is drawn to the glass Pepsi bottle in the foreground, with color the logo on the side. Though it isn't clear in the photo, and if I remember correctly, the Pepsi logo has a kind of modified yin-yang design, red on top, blue on the bottom. Also the bottle is round and filled with a black liquid.

Also notable, in pictures I've seen of the Guggenheim, as in Aslinn guess, the tiers of the various levels has a wave shape, I think? Several guesses mentioned a round shape. Look at the number of round jars on the table. A tree shape was mentioned a few times. Once again, look at the Pepsi bottle and the lamp in the background.

David guess was of purple, swirling stars. The Pepsi bottle again. The bottle has swirls embedded in it and carbonated bubbles could appear as stars close up.

Pauline saw Jane. Could she have tuned into a reality where Jane is still alive, kissing Rob? The ages of the couple would be about right if Jane were still within our reality.

This couple looks as if they would have a dog or cat, just out of the picture frame. Maybe rubbing against their legs.

It's also interesting to note the guesses of a four paned window, a waffle iron, and a bingo card, a criss cross pattern. Again, I sure would like to know if there is a window in the room.

As there in no such thing as time, nor space, maybe many of us were drawn into the actual room, or now, as the picture was snapped. This leads me to believe that we should give ourselves more credit for our efforts.

I would be interested in other comments.

With Love,
Steve Nestor
